Terms of Service
Version 2026-10-08
These are the rules for using Gather. The short version: be who you say you are, turn up when you say you will, and treat people the way you would want to be treated by a stranger.
Before publishing: replace [[REGISTERED ADDRESS]], and have this reviewed by a lawyer qualified in Bulgaria and Spain. Consumer protection law in the EU overrides several of the limits below, and the liability and arbitration sections in particular need local advice.
1. Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with them, do not use Gather. These terms are between you and Yuliyan Manolov, an individual established in Bulgaria, of [[REGISTERED ADDRESS]].
2. Who can use Gather
You must be 18 or over. You must not be barred from using the service under the laws that apply to you, and you must not have been previously removed from Gather for breaking these rules.
3. Your account
- Use your real first name and a recent photo of yourself. People are deciding whether to meet you based on them.
- One account per person. Do not create a second account to get around the free allowance or a suspension.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings.
4. What Gather is, and is not
Gather is a venue where people find each other. Activities are created, organised and run by users, not by us.
We are not the host, the organiser, the employer or the agent of any user. We do not supervise activities, we are not present at them, and we do not vet venues, equipment or anyone's competence to run what they have proposed. A padel game, a dinner or a hike listed on Gather is an arrangement between the people involved.
A verified badge means someone passed a liveness check confirming a real person was holding the phone. It is not a background check, a criminal records check or an identity check, and it is not a statement by us that the person is safe or trustworthy. Ratings are opinions of other users, not ours.
5. Meeting people in person
You are meeting strangers. That is the point of Gather, and it carries real risk that no app can remove. Please:
- Meet in a public place the first time.
- Tell someone you trust where you are going and when you expect to be back.
- Make your own way there and back.
- Do not send money to someone you have met on Gather, however convincing the reason. This is the most common way people are defrauded on apps like this one.
- Trust your instincts and leave if something feels wrong. You never owe anyone an explanation.
- Report anyone who makes you uncomfortable. Reports are confidential.
If you are in immediate danger, contact the local emergency services — 112 across the EU, 911 in the US — before you contact us.
6. Hosting an activity
- Describe it accurately: what it is, when, where, what it costs and how many people can come.
- Have the right to use the venue. If it needs a booking, a permit or a membership, that is yours to arrange.
- Turn up, or cancel early enough for people to make other plans. Repeatedly cancelling late, or not appearing, will cost you access to hosting.
- Confirm or decline join requests within a reasonable time.
- Do not use hosting to advertise a business, recruit, sell, or gather an audience for something other than the activity described.
- You are responsible for your activity complying with local law, including any licence or insurance it requires.
7. Joining an activity
- Only ask to join if you intend to go.
- If you cannot make it, say so as early as you can. A no-show costs the host a spot that someone else wanted.
- Respect the host's rules for their activity, and the venue's.
- Where the host has hidden the address, you will see it once your request is confirmed. Do not republish it.
8. Money between users
Where an activity has a cost, that is an arrangement between the host and the people attending, settled between you. Gather does not process payments between users, does not hold the money, and is not a party to it. We cannot refund you, and we cannot recover money from a host on your behalf. Disputes about a split bill or an entry fee are yours to resolve.
Prices shown for activities are set by hosts and displayed in euros.
9. Gather Plus and the free allowance
Gather is free to use within a lifetime allowance of one hosted activity and one join. This allowance does not reset monthly. Once both are used, hosting and joining require Gather Plus.
Messaging always stays available, including on a free account, because a joined activity needs its group chat.
| Plan | Price |
|---|---|
| Gather Plus, monthly | €5.99 per month |
| Gather Plus, yearly | €49.99 per year |
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Where you bought the subscription determines how you cancel it and who refunds you:
- Bought in the iOS app: Apple takes the payment and manages the subscription. Cancel in your Apple account settings, at least 24 hours before renewal. Refunds are Apple's to give under their terms, not ours.
- Bought on our website: cancel in Settings or by emailing us. If you are a consumer in the EU you have a statutory right to withdraw within 14 days; by starting a subscription immediately you ask us to begin the service within that period, and we will refund the unused portion.
We may change prices. If we do, we will tell you before it affects you, and the new price applies from your next renewal, never retroactively.
10. Verification
Verification uses a selfie to confirm a real, present person is holding the phone. It is optional unless an activity requires it, and some hosts choose to accept only verified people. What happens to the selfie is described in the Privacy Policy — in short, our verification provider processes it and we never receive the image.
Do not attempt to pass a check as somebody else, with a photograph of a photograph, or with a generated or altered image. Doing so ends your account.
11. Rules of conduct
Do not:
- Harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate or abuse anyone.
- Post sexual content, hate speech, or content that demeans people for who they are.
- Impersonate anyone, or use photos that are not of you.
- Use Gather for prostitution, trafficking, or to facilitate any crime.
- Solicit money, investments, cryptocurrency or gifts from other users.
- Spam, advertise, recruit, or scrape data from the app.
- Share anyone's personal information — including an activity's hidden address — without their agreement.
- Bring anyone to an activity who has been removed from Gather.
- Attempt to break, probe or circumvent the security of the service.
Rate people honestly, on how the activity actually went. Do not use ratings for revenge, and do not pressure anyone into a rating.
12. Your content
Your photos, descriptions and messages remain yours. You give us a licence to store, display and distribute them for the purpose of operating Gather — showing your profile to other users, displaying your activity in the feed, delivering your messages — and nothing else. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in other people's conversations and anything we must keep for the reasons set out in the Privacy Policy.
Only upload content you have the right to upload, and photos that actually show you.
13. Suspension and removal
We can limit, suspend or delete an account that breaks these rules, and we can remove an activity. Where it is safe and sensible to do so we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. For anything involving a threat to someone's safety, we act first.
You can stop using Gather at any time, and delete your account in Settings.
14. Liability
Gather is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, that every user is who they claim to be, or that any activity will go ahead or be worth your time.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for what happens between users — at an activity, in a chat, or afterwards — including injury, loss, damage or anything done by another user. Our total liability to you for anything connected with Gather is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or €50.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you keep all your statutory rights, and the limits above apply only so far as the law permits.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Bulgaria. If you are a consumer, you can also bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, and you keep the protection of that country's mandatory consumer law.
16. Changes and contact
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Gather after that means you accept the new version.
